College Fresh, Inc. prepares and serves fresh, made from scratch, in-house meals for fraternities and sororities nationwide. We are looking for a professional **SOUS CHEF** to join the team at our Univ of Michigan campus location.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for food service preparation at assigned location; providing fresh, made from scratch food and outstanding customer service.

Assist the head chef in directing the preparation of all foods on the menu, maintain kitchen and all food service areas in accordance with public health guidelines and the highest/freshest quality levels.

Provide excellent customer service -- addressing clients' needs, requests and concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.

Receive inventory, stock all supplies/staples and clean all service areas per contract specifications and public health regulations.

May be required to assist with developing and posting weekly menus, submit to menu sharing system in advance as directed by Chef/management.

Adhere to all management, client, state and local cleanliness and sanitation regulations.

Other functions:

May be required to act in lieu of Chef in his/her absence.

Perform routine assignments such as dishwashing, mopping, garbage removal, etc., if required and/or in the absence of dedicated staff.

Assist with special event meal preparation such as recruitment, homecoming, etc. as required.

All other duties as assigned (as directed and/or agreed upon with Head Chef).



Normally requires a culinary arts degree, or the equivalent thereof, and a minimum of 2-3 years head chef experience to demonstrate extensive knowledge of food preparation, kitchen management, menu planning, food cost control, sanitation, organization, and leadership.

Must be able to obtain and maintain any and all pplicable licenses and certifications (e.g. Servsafe Certification or state licensing equivalent).

May be required to lift 21-50 lbs.

May be required to stand on feet for extended periods of time.

May be required to work occasional special events.

*NOTE*: Employment is based on the University of Michigan school year/academic calendar (laid off during breaks when school is not in session).
